Filmmaking

 In Te Maunga we had a reading activity called Filmmaking. I learnt how to edit and film and how to do a voice over. My favourite thing to learn was to edit. For editing I learnt how to cut things out and how to add things to the movie and how to do a voice over. The challenging thing was to get the film done in time. Have you done filmmaking before?

Wacky Wednesday

 On Wacky Wednesday the whole School had to dress up silly for fun. We dressed up like superheroes or some people had an inside out T-shirt. One thing I liked doing was being a part of Wacky Wednesday and having fun. The most challenging thing was to find something funny to wear. I learnt some people don’t make fun of you for what you are wearing.

PAL DAY!!!

 In Te Maunga the whole of Paihia School had a PAL day. We played short games like red light green and ball-rush and lots more. One thing I liked doing was big ball soccer. The most challenging thing that I played was handball because  only some people knew how to play.

Harlow’s Earthquakes and volcano

 In Te Maunga we had a reading activity called earthquakes and volcanoes. We learnt about how volcanoes and earthquakes happen. For example volcanoes happen when two plates rub together and then the plates start to get very hot and then it starts to melt and then magma, a mixture of red-hot rocks and gas, starts to push up across cracks in the earth crust, the ground above shakes as the gas explodes inside the magma. My favourite thing to learn was learning about how these things happen. The most challenging thing was trying to get my work done at the right time.

THE LAST DAY OF TERM 3

 On the last day of term 3 we had a cool house sports day. We played games like Dodgeball, Rob the nest, Duck, duck, goose and lots more. I enjoyed playing Rob the nest. The most challenging thing was trying to beat Cade at Dodgeball.

Harlow’s Measurement

 In Te Maunga we have been doing Measurement. We learnt about Perimeter and Area. Perimeter means the outside of the shape that you are working on, and Area means the inside of the shape that you are working on. My favourite part was doing Perimeter. The most challenging thing was doing Area and finishing in time.



Harlow’s Te Reo

 In Te Maunga we have been learning about Te Reo. I learnt the Maori names of the rainbow like Ma means white, Mawhero means pink, Whero means red, Kowhai means yellow, Kikorangi means blue, Karaka means orange, Kakariki means green, Pango means brown.


I also learnt the Maori names of animals too like Manu means bird, ika means fish, Ngeru means cat, Kuri means dog, Poaka means pig, Hoiho means horse, Kiore means rat, Arewhana means elephant, Kau means cow. One thing I liked doing was learning the Maori names of animals. The most challenging thing was getting finished in time.

Harlow's awesome Lockdown

At home Mum, dad, my sister Nova, my cousin Ocean and I all did a family Olympics. I learnt how to play volleyball and to make your day not be boring and be active with my family. One thing that I enjoyed the most was having fun with my family. The most challenging thing for me was being away from home when we went to our beach house at Davis Crescent but I was fine.

Harlow Science

 In Te Maunga we did a reading activity about science. I learnt how to do  experiments like Coke and Mentos but instead we used different flavors. The thing that I liked doing the most was making experiments. The most Challenging thing was making a rubber band car.

Nanogirl came to visit us

 In Te Maunga Nanogirl came to visit our School. We learnt that you can only figure out something if you run an experiment in science. The thing that I enjoyed the most was watching the cool experiments like when she put her hand on fire.

Research projects

 In Te Maunga we have been doing Research projects. Me and Kova learnt that Rottweilers have been around since 1901. I enjoyed almost finishing my screencastify. The most challenging thing was trying to get our work done.

Matariki

 In Te Maunga we have been doing an activity for reading called Matariki.

We learnt that there are not just seven Matariki stars, there are 700 but you can’t see them with a naked eye. The thing that I enjoyed the most was making a poster about five facts or more about Matariki. The most challenging thing was trying to get my work done fast.

 In Te Maunga we did Measurement. We learnt how to tell the temperature outside and temperature in water. The thing that I enjoyed the most was mixing the water to see different temperature.The most challenging thing was getting your work done at the same time as the whole class.

Harlow’s Astronomy

 In Te Maunga we did Astronomy. I learnt that the sun is a star and it is made of white hot gas and that Matariki is a Maori new year. The thing that I enjoyed the most was to create a poster about the moon or the stars. The most Challenging thing was the Explanation writing about the sun.

Harlow and Ruby’s Research project.

 In Te Maunga we have been doing a Research project, all you need to do is choose a topic to search about. We learnt that Sea lions can swim up to a speed up to 25 miles per hour. My favourite part was making the Google Slides. My challenge was making sure I got it finished on time.

Tsunami day.

On Friday March 5 Paihia School evacuated because of a tsunami and 

we all went up a hill. Then everyone came up the hill and then the teachers finally said it was for real and then I started crying and so did my friends. Then I called my mum and dad and nan to ask if they were ok and they said yes so I started coming down and me and my friends started talking where there was no one else. Then we had a sausage and bread and it was delish. The tiny tsunami came and we finally went down the hill and most people went home after a long day and some of us stayed and got an ice block. Then I got a little piece of paper saying that I have to catch the bus to Aura-Jean's house so me and my sister did the end.


Swimming time

 In Te Maunga we went swimming. We learnt to do sculling. Sculling was my favourite because we had to do it for three minutes. It was a very awesome time.

My cool Pepeha

In Te Maunga we have been learning about our Pepeha. We got to choose if we wanted to do our Maunga or awa I chose to do my Maunga. First we had to sketch our Maunga out on a piece of paper. Then we got a fresh piece of paper and we had to draw it again.We had to color it in 

Harlow's Te Reo art

with a pastel and then we had to use an art pencil to outline the pastel. If we wanted to we could do a Maori pattern on the outside. Then we could do a whakatauki. My favourite part about this artwork was doing the pattern on the sides of the piece of paper. My challenge that I faced was the colouring in because it was hard getting all the white spots because you would always miss the white spots.

 


Harlow and Littas fun Statistics Investigation

 In Te Maung we all did a statis investigation. We learnt how to collect data and lots more. The thing that I enjoyed the most was making a google sheet to show people the information of all the data we collected. The challenge that I faced most was trying to work when other people were asking me questions.

Sea week day

On March 24th we had visitors in to Paihia School there names were Jaden and Sherlly the visit was called the sea week visit.  We learnt  how to measure a fish and how to help a whale if it was stranded on the beach. My favourite bet was when we learnt how to help a whale because we had to make a chain of people so we wouldn't spell the water.  

Easter time

On Easter my family went to Rotorua. My family and I went on the Luge and I got to ride my own. My favorite thing was having dinner every night because we got something yum. The Luge was awesome too. I faced some Challenges like going down a big hill on the Luge


The amazing last day of school

 In Te Maunga on the last day of school we had fun activities about the ocean to keep the ocean clean. We learnt how hard it is to clean up an oil spill and lots more. My thing that I enjoyed the most was trying to clean up an oil spill. I faced some challenges on that day like cleaning up the oil.


Harlow’s Character description

 In Te Maunga we did T-shape  Literacy about Character description for reading. We learnt how to put in heaps of description and tell if people are good or bad by what they are doing. My favourite part was drawing our favourite movie character. I had a couple of challenges that I faced like we had to describe characters in texts
